I was working on an assignment for school pertaining to spontaneous portraits. The key was to catch the person as they are, without the camera affecting their daily regime. I saw this girl on the bus and she was by far one of the most saddest girls I've ever seen. She had large red bags under her eyes. No smile to be found. Looks like she hasn't slept for days. Her mother was oblivious to the capture. It's clear though, the child wasn't. I think a part of her wanted to be captured in this fashion. It seemed she was suffering far too silently.

It pains me to look at this picture for too long. It's far too real.
